Meet our Housing Department staff!

YCSP operates over 120 various housing units throughout Southern Maine.  These units are comprised from over 30 properties and, while each unit has specific criteria, in general, these placements are for families and individuals that have gone through the Emergency Shelter. These are families and individuals lacking housing alternatives and could benefit from continued involvement with YCSP and supportive services in some cases. All permanent programs are chemical free and prohibit illegal activity.

Charles Street Duplex:  This apartment building is owned by YCSP and provides housing for two families. Charles Street is permanent housing designed for families who are highly motivated to improve the quality of their life, are capable of maintaining daily living on their own, and could benefit from subsidized housing with supportive case management.  Charles Street has a subsidy attached to the property itself, which will remain in effect for any family living there.

High Street House:  This house is owned by YCSPI and provides housing for up to 4 individuals.  High Street provides individual bedrooms with community living space. The length of stay is based on individual needs.  Residents must have an ability to support themselves financially and will pay a small rental fee, which may be covered by Section 8.

Cottage Street Residence:  This house is owned by YCSPI and provides housing for a total of 6 individuals.  Cottage Street provides individual bedrooms with community living space.  The length of stay is based on individual need.  Residents must have an ability to support themselves financially and will pay a small rental fee, which may be covered by Section 8.

Thompson Street: This apartment building is owned by YCSPI and provides four permanent housing apartments.  Residents must have an ability to support themselves financially and will pay a small rental fee, which may be covered by Section 8.

17 Thornton Avenue: This house is owned by YCSPI and provides two apartments including one 1-bedroom unit and one 2-bedroom unit.  The length of stay is based on individual needs.  Residents must have an ability to support themselves financially and will pay a rental fee, based upon income.

24 Thornton Avenue:  This house is owned by YCSPI and provides housing for 1 family.   Thornton Avenue has 4 bedrooms with additional large living space. The length of stay is based on individual need.  Families must have an ability to support themselves financially and will pay a rental fee based upon income.  As all other permanent programs, case management is provided.

57 Lebanon Street: This apartment building is owned by YCSPI and provides housing for a total of 2 families. Lebanon Street provides 2 individual apartments.  The length of stay is based on individual needs, however, is considered transitional.  Residents must have an ability to support themselves financially and will pay a small rental fee.  The program has project based section 8 attached, eligible families must qualify for section 8.  Case management services are provided as necessary.

Edie’s Place:  This house is owned by YCSPI and provides housing for a total of 4 single females.  Edie’s Place provides individual bedrooms with community living space. The length of stay is based on individual need.  Edie’s Place has project based section 8 vouchers attached, so individuals must be eligible for section 8.  Case management is provided, dependent upon need.

Manson Avenue: This duplex is owned by YCSPI and provides housing for a total of 4 individuals.  Manson Avenue provides two apartments with community living space. The length of stay is based on individual needs.  Residents must have an ability to support themselves financially and pay rent.

Dismukes Street: This duplex is owned by YCSPI and provides housing for two families.   The length of stay is based on family needs.  Residents must have an ability to support themselves financially.  Project based section 8 is attached to Dismukes Street, therefore, prospective families must be eligible for section 8.  Case management will be provided, depending upon need.

Rogers Road: This apartment building is owned by YCSPI and provides housing for a total of 4 individuals.  Rogers Road provides four individual apartments, with project based section 8. The length of stay is based on individual needs.  Residents must have an ability to support themselves financially and will pay a small rental fee.  Case management will be provided, depending upon need.   

McDermott SRO Residence:  This residence houses up to 5 elderly or special needs males with a possible MH, SA or DD diagnosis.  Located on the Alfred campus, the SRO’s have their own bedrooms, but join other residents for meals in the Commons and share facilities.  A client has to be at least 6 months sober before being considered for SRO placement. Case management is provided.

Woodlawn Avenue: This duplex is owned by YCSPI and provides housing for two families.   The length of stay is based on family needs.  Residents must have an ability to support themselves financially and will pay a small rental fee.  Woodlawn is supported by project-based section8.

6 Mousam Street: This apartment building is owned by YCSPI and provides housing for a total of 5 individuals.  Mousam Street provides five individual apartments. The length of stay is based on individual needs.  Residents must have an ability to support themselves financially and be able to pay rent. This property has project-based section 8 attached to each unit. Case management will be provided, depending upon need.

St. Mary’s Street: This apartment building is owned by YCSPI and includes 3 one-bedroom apartments and 1 two-bedroom apartment.  St. Mary’s Street provides housing for three individuals and one family. The length of stay is based on individual needs.  Residents must have an ability to support themselves financially and be able to pay rent, which may or may not be subsidized.  Case management will be provided, depending upon need.

Pebble Lane: These units are owned by YCSPI and provides housing for a total of 5 individuals. Pebble Lane provides individual bedrooms and bathrooms with community living space.  The length of stay is based on individual need.  Residents must have an ability to support themselves financially and will pay a small rental fee based on the individual’s income. Pebble Lane is supported by project-based section 8.

CHAMP Properties

Lapierre’s:  Consists of some efficiency apartments and some single rooms in one building.  This site houses up to 13 single adults, both male and female.

Woods Place: This property has two 2-bedroom units and two 3-bedroom units for families and individuals.

Bates Street: 5 apartments for families.  This property is supported by project-based section 8.

Mousam Duplex: 2 apartments for families.   This property is supported by project-based section 8

June Street: 2 apartments and 6 SROs for single adults.

COMMONS HOUSING Properties

Avignon Apartments:  Consists of 8 two-bedroom units.  This is a HUD subsidized property which is available to those who meet the criteria and are approved for section 8.  An application process is required.

Elm Street:  4 two-bedroom apartments for families.  Elm Street is supported by project-based section 8.
